This 4×6 horizontal aluminum gate kit packs everything needed for the gate leaf itself into one order: a DIY gate frame kit, a box of pre-cut ALU 40 slats and the 7/8 plugs that finish them. It is sized for a single-swing pedestrian gate – a side-yard entrance, a garden path or a service opening – and the slats sit horizontally with a 3/8" gap for a clean, modern line that matches horizontal fencing.
Because the slats arrive cut to 39in. for this frame, there is no need to measure and cut long profiles on site. You assemble the frame, fit the slats and add the plugs. Everything is made from 6063-T6 aluminum and finished with AAMA 2604 super-durable powder coating, so the gate will not rot, warp or need repainting the way a wood gate does.

The frame kit itself is listed with a vertical gate frame, vertical gate frame cap, top and bottom horizontal gate frame, 2 heavy duty hinges and a gate stopper, and it is compatible with the Universal Slat Adapter. Latches and posts are not part of the kit.
Why the ALU 40 slat with a 3/8" gap
ALU 40 is a 4-inch horizontal slat profile. The wider face means fewer visual lines across the gate than narrow slats, which gives the finished gate a more substantial, architectural look. The 3/8" spacing keeps the gate semi-private: neighbours see a solid-looking surface from most angles, while light and air still pass through. If you need full privacy with no gaps, look at the Alu 60 tongue-and-groove version of this kit instead.

Choosing posts for your DIY aluminum gate kit
Posts are sold separately because every opening is different. The price list offers five post options for this gate kit:
- Hinge Post + L-Side Post – wall-to-wall installation
- 3.15 Post – wall and concrete footing
- 2-way post – wall mount only
- 3in HD Post – concrete footing
- 4in HD Post – standalone post
Between two existing walls, the 2x2in Hinge Post & L-Side Post Kit is the dedicated wall-to-wall option. For a gate set in the ground, a 3×3 in. HD square post is listed for concrete footing, and a 4in HD post is the standalone choice. The price list notes the 2.75 2-way post option is intended for gates up to 3 feet wide or wall mount, so confirm with our team whether it suits a 4 ft gate before choosing it.

Before you order, measure the finished opening, decide how each side will be fixed (wall, concrete footing or standalone post) and check your local code for any rules on gate hardware and height.
