6x6 horizontal aluminum gate kit, boxed and pre-cut
When a 4 ft gate is not enough – for wheelbarrows, garden equipment or simply a more generous entrance – this 6×6 horizontal aluminum gate kit steps up to the 6' x 6' DIY frame. The box contains the frame kit, 16 ALU 40 slats already cut to 62in. and the 7/8 plugs that close the slat ends, so the whole gate leaf arrives as one package.
The slats run horizontally with a 3/8" gap between them. That spacing gives a semi-private screen that still lets breeze and some light through, and it lines up visually with horizontal slat fencing. The aluminum is 6063-T6 with AAMA 2604 super-durable powder coating.

The 6' x 6' frame kit is listed with a vertical gate frame and cap, top and bottom horizontal gate frame, 2 heavy duty hinges and a gate stopper, and it works with the Universal Slat Adapter.
ALU 40 slats: wide face, consistent spacing
The ALU 40 profile is a 4-inch slat, so a 6 ft gate reads as a few bold horizontal bands rather than many thin lines. With the slats pre-cut to length for this frame, spacing stays consistent from top to bottom without on-site measuring. Aluminum does not rot, warp or attract termites, and the powder-coated surface only needs occasional cleaning.
The slat wall is 0.047, the same thickness used in the 4×6 version, and the 7/8 plugs close the open slat ends so the finished edge looks tidy and keeps debris out. Because the slat count is identical across both ALU 40 sizes, the spacing and overall look stay consistent if you install a 4 ft gate on one side of the house and a 6 ft gate on the other.

Post options for a 6x6 aluminum gate
No posts are included, which lets you choose the right mounting method for your site. The listed options are:
- Hinge Post + L-Side Post – wall-to-wall installation
- 3.15 Post – wall and concrete footing
- 2-way post – wall mount only
- 3in HD Post – concrete footing
- 4in HD Post – standalone post
For a gate between two walls, the 2x2in Hinge Post & L-Side Post Kit is designed for wall-to-wall installation. For in-ground work, choose between the 3in HD post for concrete footing and the 4in HD post for a standalone post. A wider gate puts more demand on the hinge side, so if you are unsure which post suits your opening, ask our team before ordering. The 2-way post is noted in the price list for gates up to 3 feet wide or wall mount, which makes it a poor match for a 6 ft leaf unless our team confirms otherwise.

Before you order
Measure the finished opening and the space the posts will occupy, decide whether each side fixes to a wall or to a footing, and check any local code requirements for gates. Think about swing direction too: a 6 ft leaf needs clear ground to open fully, so check for steps, planters or slopes in its path. Plan the latch at the same time, because latch hardware is not part of this kit.
